Sheila Lock
In August 2008 Sheila was appointed Chief Executive of Leicester City Council. She is committed to working on One Leicester, the new city strategy that will take Leicester through the next 25 years.
Nationally Sheila has been involved in the development of early years policy around Surestart and Children’s Centres. She is currently a representative on the National Migration Impact Forum and on the Local Authority Strategy Form.
Sheila Lock was previously employed by Calderdale Council as the Head of Services to Students and Communities. Sheila trained as a Social Worker and has extensive experience of working with children and young people and their families. In 1996 Sheila worked as an Assistant Director within the Social Care field planning services for children in need and children at risk.
In 1998 she transferred to the Education sector and has been involved in the strategic development of services to children and young people in their community and around schools. Sheila has contributed to two books on Children’s Services and a range of publications and has lectured nationally on issues with children and young people. Sheila is a single parent with a son who is now aged 25.
